XVIII (18)…always hit save…
The stories we tell about ourselves, help us define who we are and where we fit in the world. If we don’t share our stories, the stories of who we think we believe we are, sometimes we get caught up and believe that the story that was told about us is who we are. People live entire lives, frustrated and unhappy because they’re unsuccessful at trying to be somebody they couldn’t possibly be. We aren’t all called to do the same thing. We have different likes and dislikes, perspectives, tastes, and ideologies, but when people start to believe that their way of life is the only way, and everybody else’s views are invalid or wrong, they find themselves telling a story about the world that is almost completely unhinged from reality.
We need each others perspectives to be able to better understand this thing called life. Innovation and creation never happen through one person alone, and when the rain falls it doesn’t fall on one person’s house. Damage has beed done, and the house was already built upon a faulty foundation
Okay…
So this is day 18 of the blogging daily. I was just finishing up this piece about the stories we tell ourselves and why it’s important to tell our stories to the world, and expose ourselves to different perspectives and ideas. It explored how conspiracy theories are born in echo chambers, and that we need to realize that our ideas, our perspectives aren’t necessarily the absolute truth. When we think that our perspective, our ideologies, and our way of life are right, and divergent views and lifestyles are wrong, that’s what causes division and isolation.
But, I was messing around with some other features on the site, and I thought I hit save… but alas I didn’t. (so the top part is all that saved, because it was the excerpt I chose)
So, I have to do what we all have to do, take a breath, don’t let the pain of what happened already drag me down, and trust that those words, those ideas will find their homes in the stories, plays, and songs that I’m gonna spark with this writing practice over these 100 days.
Forgive me if I don’t have the heart to try to re-write everything that I was thinking about right now. It’s been a long day, at the end of a long week, during this unprecedented time. Let’s remember to be kind to each other, and not forget to be kind to ourselves, and keep showing up.
