LXXIII (73) March On

“Yesterday was not to be,

So lock the door and toss the key.

In order to move forward,

Can’t be shackled to a memory. (memory, memory, memory)” -(vintage I AM THE THIRD)

For so long I’ve been haunted by what could have been,

Missing out on now, focussed on then.

But now I say over, and over again.

Right now is the best time there has ever been.

So March on into this moment.

This day, this year, this time.

I warned people to stop saying things like “fuck 2019, fuck 2020, fuck you for not recognizing that you’re one of the lucky ones.”

You survived.

I’m not saying that to discount all that you may have lost, and all that you may have to mourn.

I’m asking what are you gonna do now?

Maybe you need to grieve, and that’s fine.

But let’s not mistake, or fool ourselves into thinking that last year didn’t bring you to where you are right now.

And the moment before that, and the moment before that, and all the years gone past.

Let us not be shackled to the past. But let’s not pretend that the past didn’t bring us here, where we are right now.

And if you understand that you couldn’t be here without your past, maybe we can approach it with a little more love.

Words are powerful. Words have meaning. Words have magic, somebody said that’s why it’s called spelling.

Be careful…

When you curse your past, what do you think that does for the present?

It’s called the present, it’s a gift.

Can we try a little gratitude this year?

The past brought us all here.

The question is where do we go from here?

No the question is what do we do now?

No matter where you’ve been, what you’ve been through.

And your big dreams, no matter how near or far they may seem.

I promise you.

Right now has always been the best time.

All artists are welcome.

To be the gift. To be present.

Today.
