CXXIII (123) Teeth

A couple of years ago I was in Amsterdam getting ready to head back to New York, and on the final days of the trip I got a sharp pain in the back of my mouth. I knew immediately what it was, they had never been removed, so my guess was that they were my wisdom teeth finally wanting to make their entrance and exit. When we touched down I made an appointment at NYU Dental school and was lucky to have them removed pretty smoothly, and inexpensively since at the time I was in-between medical insurance coverage.

I currently have coverage, and recently upgraded to even better coverage because of an upcoming addition to our family. But NYU called last week because I was due for a cleaning, I could have waited to shop around for other dentists, but I know that I sometimes put off things I don’t enjoy doing. So I went today… and I hated it… but I went…

Before my wisdom teeth extraction… I didn’t go to the dentist for over a decade… and my teeth were fine. I brush and floss regularly, but I know I was playing a very dangerous form of Russian Roulette. So I’ll follow up with NYU because there is a followup that happens, and then I’ll probably shop around for a new dentist, so that I don’t wait another decade before I go back again.
